Gypsy with a way out: Olga Kovitidi “buys” voters with her own songs, dances and television program. Biography Covitidi Federation Council

Deputy Chairman of the Sevastopol City State Administration, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Olga Kovitidi told Events about her passion for football, participation in the school strike and the men she loves.

“Events”: Olga Fedorovna, do you know the history of your family?

OK:Yes, she is quite interesting. My father, a Greek from Constantinople, lived in the Caucasus, and met my mother through Komsomolskaya Pravda. He saw her photograph in the newspaper (her mother was an agronomist in Livadia) and fell in love. They corresponded for two years. Mom, however, like a real woman, corresponded with several men at once. (Laughs.) Once dad came to Crimea and in one night convinced my mother that he was her destiny. They got married and, by the way, lived very happily.

“Events”: Were you a home child or did you go to kindergarten?

OK:I didn't go to kindergarten for a single day. I was raised at home. I grew up in a strict Greek family, Pala was demanding and conservative, and my mother was very soft. My favorite person was Grandma Nastya. She had her own house, and I would run to her place and play football.

“Events”: Football?..

OK:Yes, this is my favorite game. I spent my entire childhood with broken knees. My mother was a good housewife, very clean, she put on white tights for me every morning. So, on hot days I took them off and put them in my pocket, and on cold days I put them on inside out and played football. And before going home, I changed my clothes again. So I returned home, as it seemed to me then, quite neat.

“Events”: When did you play your last match?

OK:At 14 years old. My grandmother called me and said that’s enough, it’s a shame.

“Events”: Which fairy tale character was your favorite as a child?

OK:Ugly duck. I thought it was about me.

"Events": Were you an unlikable child?

OK:It’s not that he’s unattractive, just very thin - reed-like legs, rope-like arms. All my peers were much brighter than me. Actually, I only took shape after I was thirty - I became a little rounder and began to look like a woman. I also loved the fairy tale “Thumbelina”. I always believed that someday I would find my country of elves.

“Events”: What was your most daring act during your school years?

OK:Strike in Simferopol school No. 18. Our class teacher was changed, and I was the class Komsomol organizer, and we staged a sit-in on briefcases in front of the director’s office.

“Events”: Draw a portrait of an ideal man.

OK:He must be kind. That's all. I have five favorite men. My father Fyodor Georgievich, unfortunately, he is no longer here. Brother Georgy Fedorovich, his sons Demosthenes and Fedor. And, of course, my favorite is my son Yuri.

“Events”: Are you a strict mother?

OK:Rather demanding. I raised my son without a father, I am mom and dad rolled into one. It seems to me that he turned out to be a good guy. Although it's not for me to judge...

“Events”: It often happens that a busy work schedule leaves no time for rest. How do you tone yourself up in a short period of time?

OK:This is not typical for women, but it only takes me 15 minutes to get ready. And I recover easily - I close my eyes and read “Our Father.”

“Events”: Are you on a diet?

OK:I have never followed any diets. At the same time, I am not picky at all, I eat everything, I especially love Usha dumplings, chebureki and Georgian cuisine.

"Events": Do you have a driver's license?

OK:I have rights, but these are rights that I rarely exercise: I don’t have enough time.

“Events”: Do you argue often?

OK:I argued often when I was a child. Not now. I listen more. And every year of my life I become convinced that you need to be able to listen and hear.

“Events”: If life had turned out differently, what would you be able to work as?

OK:I have been working since I was 17 years old; my family was not so wealthy. She started as a laboratory assistant - washing dishes in a chemical laboratory. Then I was a secretary and worked in the justice department, tried myself in television journalism - hosted legal programs... I think that I realized myself quite fully.

Faithful companion Kunitsyna, which represented the “Kunitsin Bloc” (the “Crimea” faction) in the previous convocation of parliament, with the team’s arrival in Crimea in 2010 Vasily Dzharty moved to Party of Regions.

“The appearance of Kovitidi in the ranks of the Party of Regions is natural, because the head of our bloc (Kunitsyn – ed.) is the representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea,” this is how she commented on her decision.

In 2012, the Kovitidi program appeared on the air of State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company "Crimea" "Simferopol with Olga Kovitidi". However, after two episodes, for some unknown reason, the program was taken off the air.

Information appears in the press that the deputy is forced to curtail her campaign activities. Allegedly, the State Television and Radio Company is in the sphere of attention of another regional deputy - Rustam Temirgaliev, who also considers the Simferopol district as a possible platform for running for people's deputies. But after a while, the release of the program was resumed.

On March 26, 2014, the State Council of the Republic of Crimea appointed Kovitidi as a member Federation Council Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the executive power of the republic - the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea.

Rumors, scandals

In the media sphere, photographs of the senator that regularly appear on the Internet and do not quite correspond to Kovitidi’s status are often discussed.

In 2008 "Russian community of Sevastopol" accused Kovitidi of illegally combining the work of a public servant and a private entrepreneur and “protecting” the illegal gambling business - slot machines.

The community contacted law enforcement agencies with a corresponding statement. " At the same time, it is preliminarily known that so far unidentified employees of the USBU in the city of Sevastopol are “protecting” the illegal business of O. Kovitidi, for which they receive corresponding kickbacks", says the document, which was leaked to the media.

In 2010, for the endless stream of praise addressed to the new Dzharty team, Olga Kovitidi received the title from local journalists "Sneak of the Year". So, during one of the plenary sessions of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea in the “Miscellaneous” section, she took the floor and began to praise the Crimean Prime Minister:

"Dzharty today is the person whom the president entrusted to carry out reforms in Crimea. Who is Dzharty? Dzharty is a reformer. Dzharty is an extreme manager. It's quite obvious... What's going on? They come out here and criticize him. Dzharta's rating is growing. Who criticizes him? All those who were already in power. They all had the opportunity to make their lives better. They didn't. Therefore, when people watch TV and say: yeah, you say that something is bad, but you were already in power, so you won’t tell us anything new. Was Dzharty in power? Was not. He came for the first time. He heads the government for six months. During this time, the child can learn to hold his head up. This one has already learned to walk. People today don't care whether there is life on Mars. They need to do what Dzharty does. Today we need to feed them, give them work, we need to make sure that there is stability and peace in Crimea".

Since 2008 - acting head, since October 2008 - head of the Main Department of Justice of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine in Sevastopol.

The path to political Olympus

Member of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea convocation 2006–2010. Since 2010 – deputy of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea of the sixth convocation.

A faithful ally of Kunitsyn, who represented the “Kunitsyn Bloc” (the “Crimea” faction) in the previous convocation of parliament, with the arrival of Vasily Dzharty’s team in Crimea in 2010, she moved to the Party of Regions. “The appearance of Kovitidi in the ranks of the Party of Regions is natural, because the head of our bloc (Kunitsyn - ed.) is the representative of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych in Crimea (from April to October 2010 - ed.),” this is how she commented on her decision.

In February of this year, Kovitidi’s suddenly awakened activity paved the way for talk that she was going to become a people’s deputy. In March, the program “Simferopol with Olga Kovitidi” appears on the air of the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company “Crimea” (it is in Simferopol that constituency No. 1 is located, from which Kovitidi can start as a people’s deputy). However, after two episodes, for some unknown reason, the program was taken off the air. Information appears in the press that the deputy is forced to curtail her campaign activities. Allegedly, the State Television and Radio Company is in the sphere of attention of another regional deputy, Rustam Temirgaliev, who also considers the Simferopol district as a possible platform for running for people’s deputies. But after a while, the program was resumed and now Kovitidi can be regularly seen on TV as part of his own project.

Financial situation

Olga Kovitidi is associated with the oldest “Beauty Salon”, which is located in the center of Simferopol, a stone’s throw from the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea.

Compromising evidence

In 2008, the “Russian Community of Sevastopol” accused Kovitidi of illegally combining the work of a civil servant and a private entrepreneur and “protecting” the illegal gambling business - slot machines. The community contacted law enforcement agencies with a corresponding statement. “At the same time, it is preliminarily known that so far unidentified employees of the SBU in the city of Sevastopol are protecting the illegal business of O. People today don't care whether there is life on Mars. They need to do what Dzharty does. Today we need to feed them, give them work, we need to make sure that there is stability and peace in Crimea.”

This year, Simferopol residents learned about Kovitidi’s new talents - she wrote a song about Simferopol, and then performed it herself. City Hall employees and local deputies jokingly called the song “The City in My Heart” the new anthem of the capital. The line “the murmur of fountains, the blossoming of plane trees” caused particular amusement. At the mayor's office they came up with a lot of rhymes for it - “chestnuts”, “jerboas”, “prostitutes”.
