The parish in Nagatinsky Zaton is a community where love for God and neighbor reigns. Temple of Spyridon of Trimifuntsky. The parish in Nagatinsky Zaton is a community where love for God and neighbor reigns Temple of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky on Bagrationovskaya schedule of services

The temple, consecrated in honor of the great Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, was built relatively recently, but is already endowed with its own small history and attracts a large number of permanent parishioners under its arches. Has the Church of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky parish in Nagatinsky Zaton in Moscow and is included in the Danilovsky deanery.

The territory of the temple complex and external decoration

In November 2011, a small church located on the territory of the complex was consecrated, and later the walls of a large stone temple were built. It should be noted that the site for construction was not chosen by chance; previously this space was occupied by an ancient temple of the same name, which was destroyed by the Bolsheviks during the Soviet years.

The Church of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky parish in Nagatinsky Zaton contains a Sunday school where children are taught the basics of Orthodox doctrine: the Law of God, the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Church Slavonic language and choral singing.

It is noteworthy that a unique cross, made especially for this church, crowned the temple of St. Spyridon of Trimythous. The parish in Nagatinsky Zaton, together with the rector, decided to install such an exceptional cross, but the idea of making it belonged to the rector, Father Mikhail (Shmanov). The height of the cross is 4.5 meters, in addition, it is decorated with splashes of colored glass, which shine very beautifully in the dark. The priest proposed in this way to combine modern technologies and traditional canons of architecture.

About the heavenly patron of the temple

From the life of Saint Spyridon it is known that this saint despised earthly goods, was non-covetous, but loving and willingly helped people, including with money. Moreover, not having any wealth himself, the saint once turned a snake into gold and gave it to help a beggar.

The parish in Nagatinsky Zaton is famous for the fact that believers here receive quick answers to their prayers, deliverance from illnesses and quenching of sorrows. The church also houses a piece of the saint’s relics and a piece of his shoe.

The story of the temple under construction is told by priest Ilya Kochurov.

At the beginning of 2007, a group of residents of the Western District turned to His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II with a request to bless them to organize a community for the construction of a new church, since there were not enough existing churches. Residents of the Fili and Fili-Davydkovo districts proposed building a temple between Malaya Filyovskaya and Zvenigorodskaya streets. Patriarch Alexy blessed the organization of an Orthodox parish, and on March 17, 2007, the Constituent Assembly was held under the chairmanship of the dean of the Mikhailovsky District, Father Georgy Studenov. At the meeting there were about twenty local residents, who formed the backbone of the parish, i.e. they all became part of the Constituent Assembly and the Parish Council. I was also present at this meeting with the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch, who appointed me rector of the church under construction. After this, the protocol of the Constituent Assembly was approved by the patriarch, and thus the Orthodox Parish was created. The purpose of the parish was primarily the construction of a temple in honor of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky. In Moscow there is not a single church of St. Spyridon at all. The only church was on Spiridonovka Street, and it was not actually the Church of St. Spyridon, but the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary with a chapel in honor of St. Spyridon. It was destroyed in 1934, and since then we have not had a single church of St. Spyridon, but this saint is very revered; and at the Constituent Assembly it was unanimously decided to build a temple in honor of this saint. The parish began to be named in honor of St. Spyridon. Then the parish was registered in all government institutions: in the Registration Chamber, in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, in the Tax Inspectorate, etc. - and the parish became not just a parish of the Orthodox Church, but also an official legal entity, with all the ensuing rights and obligations; with a seal, signatures, bank account, etc.

After that, I turned to His Holiness the Patriarch with a request that he petition the mayor, then Luzhkov, to allocate a place between Zvenigorodskaya and Malaya Filevskaya streets. But we were refused, since they were already planning to build a multi-storey building on this site. The residents and I repeatedly gathered at this place, served prayers to St. Spyridon, but, nevertheless, we were unable to build anything there.

I began to look for nearby sites, but there were also constant refusals. In the end, I paid attention to the area near the Bagrationovskaya metro station. At that time, Patriarch Kirill had already become patriarch, and I turned to His Holiness to ask the mayor of the city - still Luzhkov - to allocate a plot that is located near the Bargationovskaya metro station, between Seslavinskaya and Oleg Dundich streets. Again we received an answer that this site, according to the Decree of the Moscow Government, was allocated to a certain company - ZAO Aurum Invest - for the purpose of building a social and living complex there. I established communication with the management of this company (this company is both Aurum Invest CJSC and the Gorbushka Shopping Center). The management of Gorbushka paid attention to my proposal and proposed to include the temple in the construction. And then, when the mayor of the city changed and relations with all land developers began to be reconsidered, the construction of a shopping center near the Bagrationovskaya metro station was not supported. And so all that remained was the idea of building a temple.

This site and the Church of St. Spyridon were included in the program for the construction of Moscow churches, the so-called “Two Hundred” program.

On June 14, 2012, public hearings were held at which the construction of a temple in honor of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky was approved near the Bagrationovskaya metro station, between Seslavinskaya and Oleg Dundich streets.

At this stage, active preparations are underway for the construction of the temple.

Dear brothers and sisters!

This is what the Church of St. will look like. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky after completion of construction

For several years now, the main task of our entire parish and each parishioner of our church has been the construction of a new temple complex, consisting of the Church of St. Spyridon of Trimythous and a spiritual and educational educational center.

For many years we have been collecting donations for the bricks from which the temple is now being built. In July 2016, the construction site was consecrated, and grandiose construction began. The following spring, in May 2017, another grandiose event took place - the consecration of the Foundation Stone: a capsule with the Foundation Certificate of the new temple was placed and walled up at the base of the altar wall.

Over the summer and autumn of 2017, the walls of the main volume of the new temple, the altar apse and the first tier of the bell tower rose above the ground. In November 2017, another important event in the creation of the temple took place: the main bell, a three-ton evangelist, was raised to the bell tower, which was consecrated the day before by Bishop Paramon of Bronnitsy. The whole area gathered to see this majestic spectacle.

Today, a year after the erection of the bell, the construction of the temple has slowed down significantly, and is proceeding at a significantly lower pace than we all hoped. At the end of this page in the photo report you can see what the construction looks like at the end of October 2018. The reason for the slowdown is the acute lack of funds to complete construction.

An Orthodox educational and spiritual educational center is being built next to the temple. This is what it will look like when finished

At every service in our church we collect donations to complete the construction. Every day at 15:00 in the Church of St. Vmch. An akathist to St. George is served in Koptevo. Spyridon Trimifuntsky the Wonderworker. At each Divine Liturgy, after a prayer for peace and harmony in Ukraine, a prayer is proclaimed in our church for the successful and speedy completion of the construction of the Church of St. Spyridon of Trimythous.

However, there is a catastrophic lack of funds for construction. Parish of the Church of the Holy Martyr. St. George the Victorious continues to collect donations for construction. We urge everyone to donate for the construction of the temple complex in honor of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky. This can be done on the candle box of the Church of St. Vmch.
