Maps for minecraft ship titanic at the bottom

Dedicated to the victims of the crash on April 15, 1912.

Part I. Creation and maiden voyage

Titanic is a British steamship designed for transatlantic voyages. It was the largest ship at the time of commissioning.

The ship was laid down at the Irish shipyard Harland and Wolff in 1909. Thomas Andrews was appointed chief engineer of the project, and the initiator of construction was the head of the White Star Line company, Joseph Bruce Ismay. On May 31, 1912 it was launched. After passing all sea trials in Belfast Harbor, she was towed to the port of Southampton.

The crew for this wonderful ship was recruited from the best employees. Edward John Smith, an experienced 62-year-old captain who glorified his name in both military and civilian service, was appointed commander of the Titanic. The captain's assistants were the best naval officers of the time - Charles Lightoller, William Murdoch and Henry Wilde.

The Titanic was noticeably different from other ships of the early 20th century. In addition to its large size, the ship had a significant draft, a double bottom and vertical watertight bulkheads that divided it into 16 compartments. The giant's hull was made of steel, and its powerful propulsion system of steam engines and turbines allowed it to reach a speed of 42 km/h.

The ship was equipped with the latest technology. It is not surprising that all the newspapers in the world vied with each other to trumpet the unsinkability of the ship. According to Andrews, when any 4 compartments were filled, the ship could still not only remain afloat, but also continue to move!

On April 10, 1912, hundreds of people gathered at the port of Southampton. The flight to New York departed strictly on schedule. Among the Titanic's passengers were such famous people as Archibald Gracie, Molly Brown, the Strauss spouses and Benjamin Guggenheim. Thomas Andrews and Bruce Ismay also went on a voyage to inspect the ship and assist its visitors.

Finally, the ladders were removed, the whistle sounded, and the Titanic moved off. Sailing along the coast, the ship rushed west. Edward Smith headed for America, trying to slow down under no circumstances. His action was due to the fact that he hoped to arrive in New York Harbor in record time, receiving the prestigious Atlantic Blue Ribbon award. On April 12, signals began to be received from ships passing by about a huge number of icebergs coming from Greenland. And although Smith initially hesitated, pressure from management forced him to ignore the warnings. Ismay insisted: “The ship is unsinkable. Why should we worry about security?

The next two days of sailing were full of entertainment, luxury and... class inequality. 3rd class passengers could not approach 2nd class passengers. 2nd class passengers, accordingly, could not approach 1st class passengers. Such was the order at the beginning of the 20th century.

Each of the 3 classes had its own smoking and dining salons, a system of bathrooms, as well as rest rooms. They looked completely different. Appearance was determined by price, and inequality was completely natural given the capitalist views of the time.

The first class salons looked incredibly beautiful. Decorated with precious stones and the rarest species of red, sandalwood and rosewood, they evoked a feeling of delight. The windows were decorated in the form of stained glass, the floors of the corridors were covered with fabulously expensive carpets brought from Persia, Egypt and Iran. The cabins were decorated in a variety of styles - from Victorian to Renaissance. Each visitor was assigned at least 1 servant, who was required to accompany him to any of the salons.

Class II salons looked more practical. Oak benches, tiled walls, decorated with ornaments and colored glass smoothed out the situation a little. Instead of parquet, the floor was covered with a layer of laminated boards. Waiters and stewards still served second class passengers, but not as zealously and diligently. Most of the time, left to their own devices, they were content with a complex of entertainments. These included a small swimming pool, a library and baths.

It was worst for third class passengers. They had no salons, but only sparsely decorated cabins. Covered with a layer of lime and linoleum, these rooms had nothing in common with the luxury described in the newspapers. But it’s not surprising either. Most of the third class passengers were emigrants. Some poor people lived under the stern promenade, where the rocking was most felt.

Part II. Crash

So 4 days of sailing passed. On the night of April 14-15, 1912, a truly terrible and terrifying event happened that this world will not forget.

Late in the evening, the lookout noticed the figure of an iceberg on the horizon. Immediately reporting this to Jack Phillips on the radio, he crossed to the bridge. By that time, Murdoch, who was on watch, woke up Edward Smith. All together they desperately leaned on the helm, trying to turn left. Collapsed on one side from the pressure of the steam engines, the Titanic floated forward.

The collision happened at 23:40. The underwater ledge of an ice block touched the hull of the ship, causing a hole to immediately form. Water began to fill 5 compartments at once. Andrews predicted that the ship would sink immediately. However, only a few people knew about this. The laughter of gamblers was still heard in the smoking lounge. Second class passengers played poker, and the poor slept peacefully as before.

5-10 minutes after the collision, water had already half filled the boiler rooms. Since the contact of hot boilers with ice water could threaten the ship with an explosion, the situation became even more dangerous. The stokers sacrificed their lives and remained to pump out water and extinguish the fire in the stoves even when the bulkhead shutters were tightly closed.

Soon water began to seep through the seals. The turbines were forcibly stopped. The ship froze, and steam poured out of the pipes. It was then that most of the passengers from decks A and B began to suspect something was wrong. The stewards were forbidden to tell the truth in order to avoid panic. Meanwhile, a handful of sailors began preparing the boats for launch under the direction of Murdoch and Lightoller. The noise on the boat deck was deafening, but it soon stopped. The pipes fell silent. This only meant that the mechanism was stopped.

Jack Phillips tried to transmit the signal to all ships near the Titanic, but only the Californian and the Carpathia heard it. Since the first one was also trapped in ice and could not quickly come to the rescue, the Carpathia headed towards the sinking ship.

By midnight the hold was flooded. Water has already begun to swallow decks F and G. The first passengers boarded at 0:20. In total, the Titanic had 16 solid lifeboats and 4 folding ones. At the same time, there were about a thousand passengers on board, and the same number of crew members. It is not difficult to understand that a maximum of 800 people could have been saved. The rest were in danger of death. “Women and children into the boats!” - the officers shouted, escorting passengers to life-saving equipment. Alas, the passage to the top was blocked for almost all emigrants of class III, and most of them choked.

Having distributed themselves, the officers began to lower the boats one after another at intervals of 5-10 minutes. Edward Smith locked himself in his cabin, and Andrews remained in the smoking room to meet his death. Lightoller went down into the water in one of the boats. Murdoch shot himself out of despair, and Jack Phillips sent messages until the last moment. Bruce Ismay snuck onto one of the boats and escaped. By 1:20, water began to flood the forecastle, and the inevitability of flooding became increasingly obvious. The evacuation went faster. The first signs of panic appeared. At 1:30 the bow trim began to grow more and more. To quell the panic, Harold Lowe fired three warning shots. At 1:45 most of the passengers managed to get onto the boat deck, and at 2:05 the last boat was lowered.

At 2:10, water began to flood the boat deck. At that moment, the first pipe collapsed under the force of gravity. Water began to rapidly flow into the open abyss, filling it. The Titanic sank more and more, and the trim approached 20 degrees. The ship's band began to play a church psalm, and more than 1,500 people rushed to the stern.

Gradually the energy source filled with water. The light became increasingly dimmer, and by 2 o'clock in the morning the ship was illuminated by pale lights. At 2:17 the lights suddenly went out. The screams of the passengers were heard, and the hull sharply leaned forward. A minute later, a deafening crash was heard, after which the ship split into two parts. The pipes collapsed. By that time, the first part of the broken hull had plunged into the depths of the sea. The second part froze for a moment in the air at a right angle, and then abruptly disappeared under the water, becoming the last refuge for more than a thousand people.

Five minutes after the complete immersion, only floundering people remained in the water, surrounded by fragments of furniture and life-saving equipment. The water was icy - its temperature was slightly above 0 degrees. Within 20 minutes the victims were so frozen that they could not stay afloat.

Meanwhile, there was about an hour left before the arrival of the late Carpathia. Arriving at the site of the wreck, she had no choice but to lift on board the surviving passengers from the boats, headed by the only surviving Titanic officer, Charles Lightoller. Carpathia transported the shocked people to New York, where they received help.

The fate of the survivors of the crash was different. Lightoller continued to serve in the Navy, served with distinction in World War I, and retired in the 1950s. Molly Brown has created a relief fund for the families of victims. Forward-looking Frederick Fleet served in the navy until 1936 and then became a newspaperman in Southampton. Bruce Ismay was court-martialed. However, he was acquitted and retired in the 1920s. Monuments to Jack Phillips and Edward John Smith were erected in many port cities in Britain.

At one time, this story became a real sensation. Many books and films are devoted to the shipwreck. The most famous of them is the 1997 film adaptation, directed by James Cameron.

Even after more than a hundred years, we sympathize with the families of the victims and admire the courage and desire for life that the drowned passengers showed. The Titanic will forever go down in human history as an unshakable monument to pride, self-confidence and class inequality. However, at the same time, he also serves as an example of the courage and bravery shown by the victims. We can consider that the person paid in full for his arrogance and illusion associated with imaginary technical power.

It seems to me that we should not forget this fateful night and should admire the people who gave their lives in this terrible disaster. They met their death courageously, serving as an example for many. Eternal memory to them.

We remember. We love you. We mourn

Part III. My contribution and my own model

In April 2016, I became interested in the fate of the Titanic. I decided to do something unusual: build it in Minecraft. Having found meager drawings on the Internet, I got to work. Having begged for a plot of land in the world on creative 1.5.2, I began to work. The work was easy for me, so by the May Day holiday I completed work on the appearance of the ship. It was completely empty from the inside.

By that time, the creative server 1.8 had gained great popularity. It was there that I unveiled my creation. With the active help of Point's administrator, the liner was moved to a dock located near the spawn point. As you know, the new version is rich in a wide variety of building blocks. And this meant that I had everything I needed to decorate the premises.

The design was very labor-intensive. Everything was done strictly according to historical materials in the form of newspapers, films, books and photographs. I felt that every day Titanic became more and more like the original.

During the construction of the ship, I met such famous Titanic fans as CronosDarth and CreeperCraftCity. Communication with them was difficult due to their nationality. Having learned German half and half with grief, I began to read the materials provided by them. Then I realized how imperfect my project was. Having messed up the drawings and not paying attention to the scale, I did everything as I wanted. Still, there was no point in stopping work, so I decided to present my work to the public.

Having gained patience, I started the photo shoot. However, it turned out to be hampered by a large concentration of other buildings on the creative server next to my ship. It was then that the Point administrator came to my aid, taking on all the difficulties with editing and photographs. I think I can fully call him a real render master and say that without Alexey’s help I would hardly have been able to cope with this overwhelming work.

Perhaps someday I will make another version of the Titanic on a completely different scale and in a different way. There is clearly no point in thinking about this now.
