The Tale of the Two-Faced Aluminum

Once upon a time there lived a cunning and impudent man named Aluminium. His possessions were located between two powerful kingdoms. One kingdom was ruled by the young, cheerful King Natrium. Everything in his kingdom was blue: clear blue skies, deep clear blue lakes and rivers, blue flowers fragrant in blue fields. And blue-eyed, cheerful and kind people lived in the kingdom. Work and life in the kingdom were easy, free, and joyful. And this caused great envy among the ruler of another kingdom, Sera. She turned yellow all over with envy and anger, and sometimes even began to melt from internal heat or burn with a purple flame. Finally, her patience ran out after one magnificent celebration organized by Natrium in honor of the birth of her son, and Sera declared war on Natrium.

Sodium, who never wished harm to anyone, was soft in character, like wax, even if you cut it with a knife, was not ready for war. He turned to Aluminum: “Help, because you and I are from the same family - metals.” Aluminum agreed, but decided to arrange it so that both armies would kill each other and he would take possession of both kingdoms.

And the battle broke out (demonstration of a neutralization reaction). The troops of Sodium and Sulfur fought sparingly, generating enormous amounts of heat. And Aluminum and his army always sought out a convenient position: if the army of Sodium won, he sought to be in its midst, if the army of Sulfur prevailed, he switched to its side. Finally, both Sodium and Sulfur understood the cunning and duality of Aluminum's plans. Both sent their strongest warriors with orders to destroy the scoundrel and traitor.

Aluminum saw two horsemen rapidly approaching him from both sides. Soon two spears pierced his limp body with force.

A fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it,
A lesson to all the elements.
If you are metal, don’t be shy,
Rush into battle with acids.
May you die in battle -
I sing glory to you!
Being dangerously amphoteric
It's better to be faithful to your family
And not like Aluminum,
You will die ingloriously in battle.

A tale of beautiful love
Prince Argentum to Chloris

The great autocrat Tsar Serebro had an only son - the silver-haired Prince Argentum. The young man traveled a lot, and now the time has come for him to get married.

Since childhood, he was engaged to the wayward, arrogant, evil-tempered, caustic Nitrina. Many metals have paid with their lives for trying to argue with her.

Argentum did not like Nitrina. When he had to be alone with her, he immediately found a reason to somehow get rid of her, suddenly remembering that he had very urgent business (silver nitrate is soluble in water and completely dissociates into ions).

And then one day, at a cheerful, noisy ball, Argentum saw Chloris. She was so light, tender, semi-airy, she danced so enthusiastically and gracefully that Argentum immediately fell in love with her (hydrochloric acid - hydrogen chloride solution, transparent, volatile liquid). Argentum begged his friend Kalia to introduce him to a beautiful stranger. Potassium agreed to introduce them during the dance. A waltz was announced. Nitrina grabbed Argentum's hand, he was forced to walk with her. Potassium invited Chloris. And then the long-awaited words were heard: “Ladies change gentlemen.” Chlorida's tender, fragile palm lay on Argentum's palm. He felt extraordinary excitement - after all, a very strong ionic bond had arisen between them. Argentum hugged his beloved and never parted with her again.

Fairy tale

Once upon a time there lived chemical elements. They had no order, they were constantly arguing. They either argued about how many electrons each should have, or could not decide where to live. And this continued from century to century until 1869 came. That year they turned to a wise and fair man - D.I. Mendeleev. He could not help but help the elements, and agreed to reign over them. He ordered them to build a city and designate 8 streets in it. All relatives had to live on the same street, and each had to have an amount of electrons that was equal to the number of their house.

The elements began to live together, communicated with each other, and formed connections. And then one day Sulfuric Acid (H) was born in this kingdom 2 SO 4 ). Her parents are Sulfur (S) and Oxygen (O 2 ) never allowed Acid to leave their home. But she was growing up, she really wanted to see what was happening there, on the streets of the city. And then one day Acid ran away from home. But already on First Street she met her grandfather - Hydrogen (H 2 ), and he immediately took her home. She burst into tears and began to ask why she was not allowed to grow up with the rest of her peers. Then H 2 explained to her that its properties are too strong and it dissolves almost anyone it meets on the way.

But Acid didn’t believe it, and the next day she ran away to the city again. This time she encountered Magnesium (Mg) on her way. Light, silver - it immediately attracted her attention. She watched Magnesium for a long time, saw how it released energy and heat, combining with other elements. H 2 SO 4 she wanted to approach him, but suddenly she remembered her grandfather’s words. Although she did not believe them, doubts crept into her heart.

Every day she continued to watch Mg, and soon realized that she had fallen in love. Magnesium also saw Acid from afar, and he always liked it. But he could not even think that such a complex compound as she could love him - simple metal.

The day came when H 2 SO 4 plucked up courage and made an appointment with Mg. They were supposed to meet near his house number 12 on Second Street. And so, it happened. But before Acid had time to really explain anything, Magnesium began to dissolve, and then she herself. Now she believed her grandfather, but it was too late. AND H 2 SO 4 , and Mg disappeared, leaving behind only salt and hydrogen.

The Extraordinary Adventures of Sodium and Lithium

Once upon a time there was Sodium - a friendly and carefree metal. He lived well, but Natrium wanted to travel. And he called his friend Lithium - a smart and generous metal. We thought, discussed and decided to go on a trip. They collected all their electrons and hit the road.

The friends walked for a long time, but did not encounter anything good or interesting on their way. And so they decided to stop and rest at a halt. Suddenly, in the distance, Lithium noticed someone. The friends decided to come up and look and saw that little Potassium was crying. Sodium and Lithium asked him what happened. It turns out that poor Potassium is lost in an unfamiliar place and cannot find his way home. Friends promised to help him. The next morning, Lithium, Sodium and Potassium set off. On the way, Potassium told a lot of interesting things about his home. He said that his friends Rubidium and Cesium, Hydrogen and Chlorine and many other inhabitants of a huge house of chemical elements live there. Lithium and Sodium did not believe little Potassium. The next day, having reached the right place, they saw a huge house with a large number of inhabitants in it. Having met everyone and learned a lot of new things, Sodium and Lithium decided to stay and live in this house.

After some time, Sodium married the beautiful Chlorina, and salt was born to them. They decided to call it Sodium Chloride. Lithium also made a lot of friends.

And now best friends Lithium and Sodium live in a wonderful house of chemical elements.

Magnesium

Look at the table again,

Find sodium's neighbor.

Tell me about magnesium in a moment:

“It’s a divalent element!”

Compare with alkali metal,

These substances are different.

The metallicity has become weaker,

But the valence has increased.

Don't look for free magnesium,

Metal cannot be found in the mountain,

It is contained in magnesite,

And magnesite is in the earth's crust.

Take magnesium in the form of a tape,

It silvers and shines,

And if you set it on fire, it’ll be instantaneous

It will flare up brightly and burn.

This metal is quite active,

Bright, light and sporty

Chemical tale "Sodium Chloride"

In a certain kingdom in a certain state, there lived two families. One family was called “ Alkali metals", and the other - " Halogens" These families were not friends and even, one might say, fought. No one will remember why that dispute started, it is only true that one family condemned the other for their way of life.

In that kingdom there was a strict decree from the King: “Everyone can have so much wealth, i.e. electrons, what is his house number.” But the decree said nothing about how to dispose of legal property. Therefore, the Alkali metals (due to their generosity) gave away electrons (some 1, some 2) and were called restorers, and the Halogens were stingy and aggressive, there were even cases when they attacked those who were weaker and robbed them. That's why they called them oxidizers- robbers.

This story happened on Third Periodic Street, when Na (Sodium) and CI (Chlorine) met. They liked each other very much. But they belonged to warring families, so they decided to meet secretly.

Sodium lived in house number 11 and dreamed of giving his electron to Chlorina. He was a worthy groom: silver-white, shiny, soft in character and very vulnerable, fusible and light, but their families learned about their friendship. Na was locked in a safe, in a jar under kerosene, and Cl was sealed in a vessel and labeled “POISON!” She became sad and turned yellow-green.

Alkali metals and halogens thought thereby to cure them of falling in love, but the lovers became increasingly worse. Sodium melted and lost its luster, and Chlorine turned into liquid under pressure, and this

normal temperature. The relatives had no choice but to meet on the amphoteric territory (the line from Bor to Astat) and begin negotiations.

They forgot old grievances and decided: there will be a wedding. Sodium donated its electron to Chlorine and became a cation, and Chlorine took its electron and became an anion. The connection between them began to be called ionic, and people called the union between Sodium and Chlorine table salt. They began to do a lot of useful things together: this is how they create the necessary conditions in the blood for the existence of red blood cells (erythrocytes), and even the name of many cities and towns in different countries contains the word salt: Solikamsk, Sol-Iletsk, Usolye, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Solt- Lake City, Saltville, Salzburg, Marseille (sea salt).

Assignment: Create an equation for the chemical reaction of the formation of sodium chloride. Equalize it using the electronic balance method.

The Tale of Lithium

Once upon a time Lithium(Li). He got tired of sitting in one place, so he rolled around the world - to see the substances and show himself. Lithium rolls and rolls, and towards him Hydrochloric acid (HCl):

Lithium, I will eat you!

If you don’t eat it, you’ll break your teeth on me, and you won’t succeed.

I am Lithium - well done, alkaline I am a daredevil!

And towards him Alkali.

I will eat you! - says Lye.

What are you doing? Don't you recognize yours? I left Acid, and where are you? - And

I am Lithium - well done, alkaline I am a daredevil! I left Alkali and I left Acid!

Lithium rolls and rolls, and towards him Salt.

Lithium, Lithium, I will eat you!

But where are you: you don’t interact with all simple metals, you wait for all the right conditions, but I’m alkaline, not about you! - and Lithium rolled further, only he was seen. Rolls and sings a song:

I am Lithium - well done, alkaline I am a daredevil! I left Alkali and I left Acid! And I left Salt!

And here Oxygen stands on the path and says:

Nice song! Come closer, sing louder!

Only Lithium sang his song, and his Oxygen - ah! - and ate it!

And Lithium became Lithium oxide.

Assignment: Make up an equation for the chemical reaction found in the text, equalize it using the electron balance method, determine the oxidizing agent and the reducing agent.

A CHEMICAL TALE ABOUT THE BRAVE SULFURIC ANHYDRIDE (SO3), RELEASED SULFURIC ACID (H2SO3) FROM CAPTIVITY.

In a certain kingdom, in a chemical state, in group 6 of the periodic system of chemical elements, there lived King Oxygen and Queen Sulfur. They lived amicably and carefree. It is difficult to name another ruler who could compare in strength and greatness with the most venerable Oxygen. Queen Sera was also particularly noble and pious. Since ancient times, its ancestors existed in the form of sulfur compounds. Sera was mentioned even in the Bible and in the poems of Homer. Oxygen and Seroy lived - they did not grieve, they raised their beloved children, they doted on their sons.

The youngest, Sulfuric Anhydride (SO3), was a kind and sweet young man who was involved in the production of organic products. The eldest son, Sulfurous Anhydride (SO2), was the direct opposite of his brother, he was even friends with robbers and volcanic gases. Selfish and evil, he secretly thought of taking over his father’s kingdom, and then he wanted to bend the whole world to his knee. Sulfurous Anhydride was very toxic, entering living organisms through the respiratory tract, causing such dangerous symptoms as coughing, runny nose, lacrimation, sometimes even leading to a chemical burn - bad jokes with Sulfurous Anhydride.
The time has come for King Oxygen to look for faithful wives for his sons, and he sent messengers to the kingdom of Hydrogen in order to marry his great-nieces - the sisters Sulfuric and Sulfurous Acid.

And then trouble happened in the Hydrogen Kingdom - the evil and insidious Hydrogen Sulfide, who was famous for her unearthly beauty and meek disposition, kidnapped the beautiful princess Sulfurous Acid. He stole the girl and made her a prisoner - the adversary threatened that the poor thing would not see the white light until she created an explosive alliance with him.
Then King Hydrogen, overcome with grief, issued the following decree: “Whoever saves the beautiful Sulfurous Acid will take her as his wife and, in addition, will receive half his kingdom.”
Early in the morning, our princes gathered at the porch and decided to go together to save the princess. The king blessed them for the long journey, and the princes set off on a difficult journey.

Soon the fairy tale is told, but not soon the deed is done. On the way, the princes encountered a dense forest, in which the robbers gathered volcanic gases. And Sulfurous Anhydride decided to kill his brother, who was in love with the beautiful Sulfurous Acid - he himself really liked this girl, his heart did not lie for Sulfuric Acid, who was as proud and narcissistic as himself.
Having gone to spend the night in an empty hut on chicken legs, the brothers fell asleep. Sulfurous Anhydride decided to abandon his younger brother and, in addition, set volcanic gases on him - he would inevitably die...
As soon as he thought about this, Baba Yaga, the famous sorceress and soothsayer from the society of alchemists, entered the hut. She unraveled the selfish thought and ordered to wake up her younger brother. Baba Yaga says: “I will give the magical chemical key to those of you who can rescue the princess, which of you is more worthy of her - whoever has a higher critical temperature will be the husband of Sulfurous Acid.”
No matter how hard Sulfurous Anhydride tried, nothing came of it: 157.3 0 C against the brotherly 218.30 C. Baba Yaga gave the key to Sulfuric Anhydride. The good fellow broke the witchcraft spell, freed the beautiful princess Sulfurous Acid from captivity and received the Hydrogen half of the kingdom. The happy parents played a wedding to celebrate, and the young Sulfuric Anhydride and Sulfurous Acid began to live together happily.

Chemical tale about fluorine

There lived a chemical element called Fluorine. His life was bad because no one loved him. The fact is that it was different from the others in color, it was not the same as everyone else’s, but light yellow. They, of course, treated color better than smell. Its sharp, irritating smell scared away all residents, from hydrogen to radium. Nobody liked poor Fluor. He was forced to leave in search of people like him. He walked for a long time, met many elements on his way, but no one wanted to accept him. After a long time, the desperate and exhausted Fluor wandered into house 7 (17), which had only 5 apartments. With the last hope, Fluor knocked on the door of the second apartment. Chlorus came out to meet him. It was yellow-green in color, its smell was suffocating and pungent, but this did not repel Fluorine. He realized that this was the place where he would be welcome. Soon Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine looked out of the window. Everyone wanted to meet their new neighbor. Deciding to stay, Fluor moved into the first apartment and he lived there happily ever after. From then on they began to call themselves Halogens.

The first adventures of Hydrogen

As you know, the very first chemical element was the well-known Hydrogen. For many years he lived alone in his house, but one day he decided to go out. Leaving his house, the first thing he did was go to visit helium. He learned that he could turn into helium, but only in the stars. Further on his way he met carbon. He hugged him and methane was formed. Hydrogen said goodbye to his new friend and moved on. He walked and walked and wandered into apartment 8. He knocked on the door and opened it with oxygen. Little Hydrogen didn’t like him right away, but he climbed into his arms. Suddenly, out of nowhere, it began to rain. Droplets of water fell on them. They went outside, and when they interacted with air, an explosion occurred. How they shouted: “Oh, oh, oh... Groin! Groin! Groin!". They quarreled and saw each other only in reaction equations. He went to complain to fluoride. He took pity on him and hydrogen fluoride was formed. He went further, but whoever he met on the way either formed an acid, or a hydroxide, or a hydride, or was driven away altogether. He was friendly and treated everyone well. After a fun day, our hydrogen went home to its brothers isotopes. There was everything at home: Protium, the main isotope of hydrogen, and Deuterium, and even Tritium. They lived together and never fought. Hydrogen met his acquaintances many more times, but most often did not stay with them for long.

Chemical tale "How alcohol was formed"

Once upon a time there was hydrogen in the periodic table. He loved to travel and was friendly to all his neighbors. Hydrogen went to visit oxygen and sat with him. Water has formed. After a while they became bored, and they went in search of new friends. They walked and walked, and carbon was coming towards them. They became friends and formed a substance - alcohol (C2H5OH). They settled in all animal and plant organisms. They differed in their “friendly” composition. There were: monohydric alcohols (methanol), dihydric alcohols (ethylene glycol),
trihydric alcohols (glycerol), tetrahydric alcohols (pentaerythritol),
polyhydric alcohols (pentahydric alcohol: xylitol). According to the saturation of the hydrocarbon substituent, they distinguished: saturated (saturated) alcohols (butanol), unsaturated (unsaturated) alcohols (allylic alcohol, propargyl alcohol) and aromatic alcohols (benzyl alcohol). Based on the presence or absence of a cycle in the hydrocarbon substituent: acyclic (aliphatic) alcohols (ethanol) and alicyclic alcohols (cyclohexanol). Depending on the number of substituents at the -carbon atom, there were primary alcohols (ethanol), secondary alcohols (propanol-2) and tertiary alcohols (2-methylpropanol-2). They became famous in the chemical world, helped everyone, were very friendly and reacted with many substances. They played a significant role in the development of other worlds.

In the state of Chimera, a king ruled and he had a son

- Oxygen.

It so happened that the king's son Oxygen became friends with a poor man named Hydrogen. His house was located away from the kingdom. He often visited his friend. The young people did not hide their friendship from anyone. Every day they walked together in the royal garden. The prince was even proud of his friend, because Hydrogen was kind, honest and brave. And yet the king did not like this friendship. He invited Hydrogen to his place and ordered him to leave the kingdom. The young man had to put the knapsack on his shoulders and go on a long journey. The young prince, having learned about this, without listening to the king, went after his friend. Soon he caught up with his friend. The friends hugged each other and hit the road together. They were driving through the forest, and suddenly they heard some noise. They looked back, but saw no one, and drove on. But then they were attacked by robbers: Sodium and

Potassium. The friends began to fight off the robbers, but alone they could not cope with the villains. And then Oxygen shouted: “Come to me, let’s unite, and it will be easier for the two of us to cope.” The friends hugged and defeated the robbers, because when combined, a new substance was obtained - water - so strong and powerful. She attacked the robbers. The robbers ran through the water for a long time, hissing angrily, with an explosion of emotions.

But water won, because strength and power are born in unity. This is how water appeared, which brings a lot of joy and happiness only to good people. And also, loyalty and friendship turned out to be stronger than the most evil robbers.

A tale of magical power - love

In one beautiful kingdom there lived a friendly family: a mother with a daughter named Chemistry and a little son - Mage.

They often played together and swung on swings because they were friends and loved each other.

My sister and brother also loved their mother very much and helped her as best they could. One day they went into the forest to pick mushrooms and berries, but they did not know that an evil witch often wandered in the forest. They walked through the forest, admired the abundance of colors - from flowers and butterflies, listened to the cheerful songs of birds and could not stop looking. What a beauty! Birch trees in snow-white dresses, like brides, and aspen trees, their dresses sparkle with either silver or emerald. And the air! Filled with such an aroma that your head is spinning. The sister was very afraid that her brother would run away from joy and such happiness, so she told him not to run far from her. In one clearing, carried away by picking mushrooms, the girl did not notice how her brother ran away from her. She ran for a long time, screaming for her brother, but there was an oppressive silence around her that she even became scared. But the girl Khimia was a brave girl, smart and strong, and she went to look for her brother. She walked through the forest for a long time. Day gave way to night, but the girl kept walking and walking.

And finally, she came to the “fairy-tale” place, looking closer - she realized that this was a deception, since when she touched the bright red flower where the butterfly was sitting, it turned black. Suddenly everything around became dark, the sun hid behind the clouds, a storm arose, lightning flashed, and it was not clear where the evil witch came from.

She looked angrily at the girl and said: What are you doing here? The girl answered: I'm looking for my brother. The sorceress laughed and said: Brother? You will never see him! He is mine! Don't you know who I am? Me. The evil witch! You will never be able to cope with me! Look! And she, waving her hand, burned the beautiful tree. It was terrible and painful.

The girl Khimia realized that kindness could not help here, that cunning was needed, and she said: And if I surprise you, will you give me your brother? The sorceress agreed, since she was sure that nothing could surprise her. It’s not for nothing that the girl’s name was Chemistry. She approached the old stump and said that “living” foam would appear from it. The chemist quietly poured in baking soda and then poured in acetic acid. And, lo and behold! “Living” white foam appeared from the neck of the stump.

CH 3 COOH + NaHCO 3 = CH 3 COONa + CO 2 + H 2 O

Now we will cover this clearing with a light white blanket of “fog”. Two bottles, brought closer to each other, in which: in the first there was ammonia, and in the second - hydrochloric acid, and, oh - a miracle again! A white fog appeared and covered the clearing.

And now, you will see a sea of balloons that will fly and shimmer in the sun’s rays. (Pour 100 g of hot water, boiled several times, into a glass and add half a teaspoon of finely grated baby soap. Stir well, add a tablespoon of glycerin, and then add ammonia drop by drop until the solution becomes clear. Using a tube you can blow bubble.)

You are constantly surrounded by living snakes that scare people, but I will show you a snake that will make you happy.

The Chemistry girl poured sand into a cone in the shape of a mountain and soaked it in alcohol. I made a hole in the center of the cone and poured a mixture of 2 g of baking soda and 13 g of powdered sugar into it. The alcohol was set on fire. Sugar turns into caramel, and soda decomposes, releasing carbon monoxide (lV). A thick dark gray “snake” crawls out of the sand.

Oh my God! I've never seen anything like this before! You won! You can take your brother! Here's your brother!

The brother rushed to his sister, they hugged and promised each other that they would never part again, and would help each other in everything and always. And the brother swore that he would always obey his sister. Thus ended the fairy tale. In this fairy tale, the great power of love, kindness and knowledge won.

If Chemistry didn't know chemistry,
And I didn’t always strive for knowledge.
She wouldn't be able to cope with the witch
And she didn’t save her brother.
We need to study chemistry
We need to be friends with chemistry.
After all, she is always with you,
Take her as your friend!!!

That's the end of the fairy tale!!!

Fairy tale “Thank you to the Sorceress of Chemistry”

Once upon a time there lived a beautiful little gnome who had many true friends and who was very fond of performing various experiments and tricks. But he did not know that he was being watched by an insidious villain, who was very jealous of him, because he had many friends, and everything worked out for him, and most importantly, he never lost heart. So he turned the cheerful gnome into a toy.

But his faithful friends did not leave him in trouble and decided to save our hero. A good fairy came to their aid, knowing what magical reactions could be used to cast a spell on the gnome.

But before this magical reaction becomes possible, the fairy and the gnomes must help the volcano ignite. The fairy brought magical acetic acid, which she added to the soda. By mixing these reagents, a magical white mixture was obtained, which the little gnomes must bring to the place where the volcano stood.

They had no easy job ahead of them, getting to the very top and pouring it into the volcano. After some time, when they were far away from the volcano, they saw it erupt. The dwarves were very happy that half of their work was done. But they had to make a few more magical steps, another magical reaction. The fairy brought them a magic wand, which should become magical due to the property of this reaction. At the next stage, the friends had to receive “magic” water that would help cast a spell on their friend.

Add potassium permanganate to plain water, which turns crimson in color. They added powder to this resulting liquid. After that, they stirred this liquid with their magic wand, and this wand acquired magical power, which helped to disenchant their friend and turn the insidious villain into a good magician.

But then the long-awaited moment came, the fairy and the gnomes managed to disenchant their little gnome - a toy. Everyone was happy, especially the gnome’s friends, who had not seen him so cheerful and joyful for a long time. They said goodbye and thanked the fairy.
